Account Deletion
Last updated: August 22, 2026
1. Delete your account from the app
The fastest way to delete your account is directly from Musclelog:
Profile → Delete my account
You will be asked to confirm your password and recovery code before the deletion is carried out. The deletion is immediate and permanent. Your account cannot be recovered after this step.
2. If you no longer have access to your account
If you have lost access to your account or your device, you can contact us at: support@musclelog.org
Because account deletion and account recovery are security-sensitive operations, we will require sufficient information to verify that you are legitimately entitled to control the account concerned.
Depending on the circumstances and the information still available for verification, we may request additional evidence, which may include a government-issued identity document when reasonably necessary.
Providing an identity document does not by itself establish ownership of a Musclelog account. Additional account-specific information may therefore also be required.
We may refuse a deletion or recovery request when we cannot establish with sufficient confidence that the requester is entitled to control the account.
Attempts to fraudulently obtain access to, recover, or delete another person’s account may be documented and, where appropriate, reported to the competent authorities.
3. What is deleted
When an account is deleted, the following are permanently removed:
- All devices registered to your account;
- All active sessions;
- Your authentication credentials (stored as hashes);
- Your recovery credentials;
- Your display name and profile information;
- Free-text comments attached to your workout sets;
- Other personal information associated with your account.
Once deleted, the account is permanently inaccessible. It cannot be reactivated and no credentials allow recovery.
Data stored locally on your device can be removed by uninstalling the app or clearing its data from your device settings.
Server infrastructure logs (such as HTTP access logs) are not individually purged per account deletion. They are retained for a limited duration according to our operational policy.
4. What may be retained
Username
A minimal account record is kept after deletion to preserve the uniqueness of your username and prevent it from being claimed by another account. This record contains no credentials and no link to any retained workout data. It cannot be used to log in, recover the account, or access any data.
Structured workout data
Certain structured workout data (exercise, sets, weight, reps, variant, intensification methods) may be retained for aggregate statistical analysis and improvement of Musclelog.
Before retention, this data is detached from the deleted account: its internal user identifier is replaced by a new random identifier that is not stored or mapped anywhere. No link between this identifier and the deleted account is kept by Musclelog. Free-text comments are deleted at this stage.
Note: exercise names entered as personal exercises remain part of the retained dataset. These are functional labels; however, if you included personal information in an exercise name, it would remain in the retained data. Musclelog does not specifically request or expect personal information in exercise names.
Musclelog does not claim that retained workout data constitutes an absolute anonymisation guarantee under all circumstances.
